두 가지 중요한 공지 사항이 있어 글을 적게 되었습니다.
우선, 저희 홈페이지를 학교에서 제공해 주는 서비스 (Yalesites) 를 이용하여 새로 구축하였습니다. 학교 공식단체로서의 이미지 향상과 홈페이지 운영비용 절감을 위하여 기존에 사설 관리 업체를 이용하던 홈페이지를 학교 내부 서비스를 이용하여 이전하기로 결정하였습니다. 홈페이지 주소는 “http://kgsa.sites.yale.edu” 이며, 즐겨 찾기에 추가해 주시고 많은 이용 부탁 드립니다.
홈페이지에는 학생회 소개, 이벤트 공지, 이벤트 사진들, 생활 정보, 리쿠르팅 정보 등을 중점적으로 포스팅 할 예정입니다. 스팸 및 해킹 위험으로 인해 자유게시판은 만들지 않을 계획이나 중고 매매 및 서브렛 등의 정보는 현재처럼 메일링 리스트나 페이스북 그룹을 통해서 공유가 가능합니다.
홈페이지는 전체적으로, 특히 생활 정보 페이지 (General Info -> Living Info) 를 계속해서 업데이트 할 예정인데, 이에 대한 건의 사항이 있으신 분들은 주저 하지 마시고 저나 임원진 들에게 연락 부탁 드립니다. 저희가 원하는 것은 홈페이지 생활 정보 페이지를 통해서 New Haven내에 사는데 필요한 정보들을 최대한 많이 제공하는 것인데, 임원진 전체가 모여 이야기를 하더라도 아는 것에 한계가 있기 때문에 많은 분들에게 정보를 얻고, 취합해서 업데이트를 해 나가고 싶습니다.
두번째로, 저희 acronym을 저희 단체의 공식 이름에 맞게 KGSA (at Yale) 로 바꾸기로 하였습니다. 작년부터 저희 단체 이름이 Korean Graduate Student Association at Yale로 변경되었지만 acronym은 YKGA 를 쓰고 있었습니다. 이는 작년에 저희 단체가 학교 공식 단체가 된 후 단체명을 학교 규정상 맞게 바꾸면서 acronym은 바꾸지 않았기 때문입니다. 이미 많은 분들에게 친숙한 acronym을 바꾸는 것에 대한 주저함도 있었지만, 엄밀히 말하면 현재 acronym은 학교 규정에도 어긋나는 것이기 때문에, 이번에 홈페이지를 새롭게 구축하며 acronym을 KGSA로 바꾸기로 결정을 하였습니다. KGA, KGSA, KGSAY 등 여러가지를 고려하였지만 타 학교들 한인 대학원 학생회 중에 KGSA를 쓰는 비율이 가장 많다는 것을 참고하여 임원진 회의 결과 KGSA로 바꾸기로 결정을 하였습니다.

Dear YKGA Members,
We are reaching out with two important announcements.
First, we recently updated our website using Yalesites, a service provided by the University. While we’ve used private hosting services in the past, we moved our website to Yalesites in order to reflect our official student organization status and to reduce the costs associated with our website. The URL is http://kgsa.sites.yale.edu, and we hope you will use our website extensively.
On our new website, we primarily plan to upload information about our organization, notices for future events, photos from past events, tips about living in New Haven, and recruiting and other job-related information. While we will not add a message board (because of spam messages and the possibility of hacking), you can still share information about second-hand sales and sublets through our mailing list and Facebook group.
In general, we plan to update our website continuously, with particular emphasis on Living Info page (General Info -> Living Info). Should you have any suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact any of the board members. Through our website, we want to share as much information as possible about living in New Haven, and we will update the Living Info page based on your comments and suggestions.
Second, we’ve changed our organization acronym from YKGA to KGSA (at Yale). While we changed our official organization name to Korean Graduate Student Association at Yale last year, we continued to use YKGA as our acronym. However, as university regulations prohibit us from using Yale in front of our organization’s name, we’ve decided to change our acronym to conform. We considered several alternatives, including KGA, KGSA, and KGSAY, but KGSA is the most commonly used acronym at other universities.
